There are two main types of advising at Delaware Tech – 最初的建议 and Program 建议.

After applying to the College, 进入学生 should complete any college readiness, residency and financial aid requirements and then meet with an academic counselor for initial advising. 在初步通知期间, the counselor will help you explore your educational goal and 开发 a plan for a successful first semester 在学院. The counselor will also help you identify the best courses for your first semester. This meeting is required before you can enroll in your first semester classes.

At Delaware Tech, program advising is a resource to help 当前的学生 驾驭大学生活, understand program and course options, connect to campus resources and activities, 和识别, 开发, and implement plans to successfully achieve your goals.

As you begin your first semester, you will be assigned a program advisor, typically a faculty member from your program of study. Your advisor's name will be listed on your Student Schedule Bill, in the Student 信息 System (our online student records system), 在我们的 美高梅 网页.

You will need to meet with your program advisor before registering for your second semester. We suggest this meeting be approximately 5-9 weeks into your first semester. However, if you have questions or concerns, you should meet with an advisor sooner. 此外, you should regularly meet with your program advisor to discuss your progress and review your goal completion plan. We suggest you meet with your advisor at least once per semester. October and March are designated as academic advising months because these are good timeframes to discuss your current semester as well as finalize a plan for the subsequent semester
